Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive arts therapy is an integrative, multimodal approach that utilizes a variety of methods. Some of these methods include drawing, writing, music, and visual arts. These forms of therapy encourage personal growth and healing. With this type of modality, individuals work with a trained therapist who helps them explore and understand their reactions and emotions in response to their experience with different forms of expressive art. Expressive arts is a form of emotional release and helps individuals develop a personalized self-discovery.

Through the creative process, and using a variety of artistic mediums, individuals explore a variety of techniques as a therapeutic intervention. This can be helpful for individuals with having a difficult time verbalizing how they are feeling or who are discovering more about themselves internally.
